About the Film
SLUGGER is an upcoming feature-length horror motion picture written and directed by Devin Thomas.
The film follows a close-knit group of friends who reunite for a weekend getaway in a rural town, looking to escape the noise of everyday life and reconnect with each other. What begins as an easygoing trip filled with nostalgia, inside jokes, and unresolved romantic tension slowly curdles into something darker when they wander onto an abandoned baseball field hidden deep in the woods — a place tied to a violent local legend most people prefer to forget.
As night falls, the group learns the truth behind the field and the figure rumored to haunt it: Slugger, a masked presence bound to the town’s history and a series of brutal murders left unresolved for years. One by one, the rules of the “game” reveal themselves, and survival becomes a matter of who understands the field — and its past — before it claims another victim.
Blending Americana imagery, early-2000s slasher energy, and grounded, character-driven drama, SLUGGER balances brutal set pieces with intimate moments of friendship, jealousy, and love under pressure. At its core, the film explores how small towns mythologize violence, how guilt lingers across generations, and how the past has a way of resurfacing when it’s buried instead of confronted.
